Prizes

  • $1000 for 1st place, your design on the cover and step-by-step inside

In addition, other nail magazines will be offered your work for possible publication!

Overview

Enter our 2010 Cover Competition and you will have the chance to win a first prize of $1000 and see your work published on the cover of the June 2010 issue of ImagiNAILtion!

In addition to a cover photograph, you will need to submit an accompanying step-by-step article.

The competition is open to all nail technicians and is free to enter. There is also a second prize of $500 and a third prize of $250 and these entries may also appear inside future magazine issues.

Judges

All judging will be done by a neutral team of four international experts and competition judges. The judges will examine the photograph and step-by-step with marks being awarded on the basis of visual impact, technique, overall creativity and composition. The judges include:

  • Vitaly Solmonoff, editor of Nail Spa magazine, international competition judge and a founder of the International Nail Experts School, Russia

Closing Date

All material received must be postmarked no later than 31st March 2010. The final decision will be announced no later than 22nd April.

 

Rules & Regulations

  1. Open to all professional nail technicians
  2. Up to three entries are allowed per nail technician
  3. The nail art design must be all your own work without help from anyone else. The nails must be attached to the hand(s) but you can use props or accessories to compliment the image. The nails can be any size or shape that compliments your overall design.
  4. The nail art design can be created using one or more nail art techniques such as gel design, flat or 3D acrylic, painting or a mixed media combination. Fantasy designs and embedding some form of decoration is permitted.
  5. Photographs that have been previously published, or have been submitted to other competitions will not be accepted

  7. All photographs to be supplied as digital images on a CD. The resolution must by 300 dpi. The file format should be TIF or JPG.
  8. Photographs containing company logo's, company names or other information that is deemed to be advertising company's or products will not be accepted.
  9. The cover photograph must have dimensions of 29.7 cm high by 21 cm wide.
  10. Step by step photographs must have dimensions 6 cm by 4 cm. Only one finger to be shown with this pointing from top to bottom (nail at the bottom) and photographed against a white shadow-free background (Tip: when taking the photograph its a good idea to place the finger 10 to 20cm above the background as this gives softer shadows from the light source. You can use an upturned glass to steady the hand.)
  11. The step by step text should be supplied as a printed document in English. On the same document also include the following information: Your name, post address, telephone number and email address
  12. All entries must include a model release form that you can download here
  13. We reserve the right to cancel the competition if the judges decide that none of the entries are suitable for publication.
  14. All entries become the property of ImagiNAILtion magazine and will not be returned. By submitting an entry you agree that the work is original and may be used by ImagiNAILtion magazine for editorial or promotional use without compensation to you, the model or photographer.
